Leicester City is subject to the strict regulations of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), not withstanding its recent Championship title victory. Concerns regarding the club’s financial health upon reentering the top flight were raised after they revealed a substantial pre-tax loss of £89.7 million for the 2022–2023 season. Leicester City is fearing the consequences of losing points when they return to the Premier League because of what happened to Nottingham Forest and Everton, two teams that had trouble adhering to these rules.
The club is in a difficult situation, as journalist Ben Jacobs has pointed out, and it may be necessary for them to sell one of their valuable assets in order to meet the PSR’s demands. One player that stands out for Leicester is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and he could be the victim of the team’s financial struggles. While Dewsbury-Hall would prefer to remain with his childhood team, Leicester City, their unstable financial situation might force them to consider offers for the gifted midfield player. Further explaining, Jacobs says that Dewsbury-Hall is viewed as a “pure-profit player,” which makes Manchester United and Arsenal among his possible suitors.
“Despite being promoted to the Premier League, Leicester will likely need to trade players quickly. This is a reality they must deal with. This is where Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall finds himself; despite his public declarations to the contrary, the club may view him as a “pure-profit player” and have to let him go.”
Jacobs added that three teams, Manchester United, Brentford, and Brighton, were interested in signing the midfield player, who might fetch up to £35 million. Under Enzo Maresca, Dewsbury-Hall, 25, has contributed 12 goals and 14 assists, which has been vital in Leicester’s championship-winning campaign.”
