Harrison Ashby, the right-back for Newcastle United, may miss more time due to a fresh injury he had while on loan at Swansea City. The 22-year-old had to return to Tyneside for treatment after missing ten games in late November and early January because of a hamstring issue.
Against Southampton, Leicester City, and AFC Bournemouth last month, Ashby made his comeback to the field of play. The Swansea City team just lost 1-0 at home to Plymouth Argyle, though, and he was noticeably missing.
Luke Williams, the Swansea City manager, has revealed that Ashby’s injury is likely to keep him out of action for several weeks. Williams said, “He will be out for a few weeks due to a muscle issue. It will not yet be possible for us to pinpoint a certain moment.”
With great expectations for Ashby as a possible long-term Kieran Trippier successor, Newcastle purchased him from West Ham United in January 2022. But once Tino Livramento arrived for £32 million in the summer, things may have changed.
Ashby hasn’t played in a real game for Newcastle yet; however, he did play in exhibition games. He made a significant contribution to the 2-1 triumph against Rangers and took part in the Premier League Summer Series fixtures against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.
When he returns from his loan term in Wales this summer, his circumstances will be reviewed.
