Wrexham’s Hollywood dream continued this season when they capped their long-awaited return to the Football League with promotion. They’ll be competing in League One for the first time in 19 years. Despite being owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, manager Phil Parkinson has reassured fans that this doesn’t mean they’ll be paying more for players than other clubs.
Parkinson remarked to The Leader, in speech:
As previously stated, our methodology involves first identifying the player and then finalizing a deal. After that, we determine if it offers good value, and if so, we work to get it above the threshold. If not, we naturally relocate, as we have done previously for a variety of reasons. We are not yet at the point where we are discussing costs and other similar topics. We are just examining players who have one year remaining on their deal and those who are not under contract. Of course, we’ve completed a ton of homework in the previous weeks as well. “The clubs we will be competing with for those players will have equal spending power so I haven’t really sensed that at the moment that people are trying to inflate the price because it is Wrexham.”
