Arsenal turned down proposals to let Takehiro Tomiyasu leave the team during the winter transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Interest in Tomiyasu, one of Arsenal’s main players, was noticeable even though Mikel Arteta did not make any acquisitions in January, which was a rather quiet month for the Gunners.

For almost £20 million, Arsenal purchased Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna in the summer of 2021 (Sky Sports). Even though he has had setbacks with injuries, the Japanese international has proven his quality and adaptability when he has been eligible for selection.
Mikel Arteta views Tomiyasu with high regard, seeing him as a potential option in all defensive positions, making him an essential part of the team.
While foreign clubs attempted to sign Tomiyasu last month, Arsenal and Arteta remained firm in their resolve to keep the Japanese defender, rejecting any potential approaches.
According to Fabrizio Romano of GiveMeSport, “Arsenal had some possibilities to sell Tomiyasu during the winter transfer window.” They have financing proposals from Italy, according to the information I have heard. But, in the end, it was never definite since the board and Arteta both wanted to stay with Tomiyasu, and he is quite happy at the club.”

Arsenal never considered selling Takehiro Tomiyasu. Despite concerns about his injury history, his contributions on the field, particularly at right-back and on the opposite wing, are invaluable.
Tomiyasu’s defensive prowess is particularly vital against top-tier opponents, as he clearly outperforms Oleksandr Zinchenko in defensive duties. As a result, Arteta has used him regularly at left-back.
Given Tomiyasu’s role at Arsenal, recent sources suggest that his contract will be extended soon, which is good news for everyone involved.
